Today the first Northern Territory Government Aboriginal Health Practitioner enterprise agreement was approved by a majority of employees who voted in the ballot process.
Our Aboriginal Health Practitioner union members have been lobbying governments for over 13 years to have a standalone enterprise agreement which recognises their profession and Minister McCarthy delivered this for our members.
The significance of this enterprise agreement is historical as it is the first in Australia and provides a career structure which is now in their enterprise agreement and can no longer be changed without the approval of Aboriginal Health Practitioners.
This enterprise agreement has given our Aboriginal Health Practitioners their VOICE and the respect, and the recognition of their unique profession.
This is a historical day and demonstrates that the NT Aboriginal Health Practitioners are leading the way in their profession.
It is a very emotional day for our members!
